Hard hat zone

Playhouse
Returning to a jungle gym of a house was fun for Peytie!  Since I don't start work yet, I am relishing in spending all sort of time discovering her hilarious quirky personality on a while different level.  I started keeping a list of funny things she does.  Here is a few from this week:
  1. New found love of army crawling under the couch over and over and over and over again.
  2. Favorite toy: white screw covers from the toilet bowl base.  Hide and seek, where did Peyton put them today... Daddy's shoe?
  3. Talking with tongue pushed against back of teeth, "Zuuu zuu zuuu zuuu zuuu..." all while expressing herself with her hands and arm motions.
  4. Knocking over the big tall giraffe in her room and cracking up after doing so.
Building home next door. Come on over at your own risk!

Lots o' cousins

Cousin time
As soon as the movers drove off we headed to McGregor for the weekend.  Peyton and I kinda attended Uncle Rob's wedding.  Kinda because Peyton had a meltdown... understatement... right as the bridal march started.  So we spent much of the ceremony at a local park.

The rest of the weekend Peyton was in much better spirits as she had some quality toddler time with her peeps.  She watched for cars with Jonah and Daniel even shared his toy with her.  It was fun to see ALL of them at once.

Mini-Minne-home

Welcome home
Well we arrived... and got to see the tiny little home we bought for the first time!  It's probably weird to buy a home over FaceTime but the good ones in this neighborhood were selling like hot cakes.

The truck arrived about four days after we arrived.  Kinnie was waaaaaay stressed out as the movers brought in the furniture and hundreds of boxes.  Mommy was stressed out that none of the furniture fit up stairs... improvise!  Meantime Peyton was having a grand ol time playing with sticks and rocks!

Too much stuff

In limbo

Happy Daddy Day
We are technically homeless for a few days and hung out in Des Moines for the weekend.  Peytie had fun walking around all over the place. When she walks her chest and belly stick way out.  Maybe that is in part to her incredible appetite.

Current breakfast = whole banana, either a Kashi bar or waffle, handful of blueberries, and occasionally a greek yogurt... if still hungry.  Go girl : )

Movin' on

Just mopped
Mover came, our home is empty!  It's been a hard week of goodbyes...

Peyton's daycare.  I didn't expect to be so sad picking her up from daycare for the last time.  I guess it's just comforting to know you're leaving her with someone you trust... and they loved Peyton.  I would walk in to pick her up and she'd be crackin up in hysterical laughter with one of her teachers.  I think she was the favorite.

Kinnick's daycare, his caretakers started tearing up when I picked him up for the last time which made me cry.  I am to send pictures.  Ha.

Our friends.  We were very fortunate to have a group of friends who all happen to have babies within months of each other.  It was great to get to go out to dinner with several of them and Jon is still mourning having to leave his BBFF (best biker friend forever) Toby!

My co-workers.  Not many people can say that they love their job... I LOOVED my job.  I worked with wonderful intelligent people and got to think, ask questions, find solutions, and work to help change lives everyday.  The field of transplant is uniquely special and I am pretty devastated to leave this chapter of my career.  Luckily it ended with a few good potlucks... breakfast potluck from the transplant dept and dessert potluck for the pharmacy dept and of course a fun mexican fiesta sendoff!  I hope I can build a new career that I love in Minnesota so I can show Peyton that you can have it all.

Bye Transplant!

Catch me if you can

Ready to run
While daddy was busy packing, Peyton was working on her mad walking skills.  Just like they say -- sitting 6 months, crawling 9 months, and walking 12 months -- Peyton was right on cue.  She kinda walked the day after her birthday by taking about 3 falling steps into us.  Within a week she transitioned into her zombie walk.  Hands out front, body swaying back and forth until plop she's down.  Now she goes goes goes but her mind is faster than her feet.

No fear!  Very un-Jaclyn like, takes after her daddy.

Sidekick

You can be Cinderella
I think Peyton has someone wrapped around her little finger.  Jon is Peyton's "primary caretaker"and he makes it look easy!

This past year Jon worked an ER day shift on Monday and Tuesday and Peyton would attend the amazing daycare at WashU.  His other shifts occurring between Wednesday-Sunday would be from 5 pm to 2 am.  He would always get home late (never before 3) for one reason or another but got up with Peyton by 7 am the next day without a complaint.  Chronic sleep deprivation didn't stop them from fun activities like swimming, riding his bike, or playing put princess through the castle window.  Peyton's lucky to have such a cool dad.
