Boatin' Babe

Hanging with the big kids
Daddy turned another year closer to acceptable baldness today, perfect excuse to rent a "party barge".  Peyton hung out by the snack bar- big surprise- full of her faves, guacamole and fancy melted cupcakes!  At least she was able to wash off her sugary face in the lake!

Peyton's favorite part was sitting up by the front of the boat catching the wind and water sprinkles.  Arms outstretched, just like Titanic.  Yooou're here, there's *Celine Dion chest punch* nothing I fear!

Happy Birthday Dad : )

Won't you be my neighbor? Da Dah

Crusin' the neighborhood
We spend a lot of time in our front yard which has given us a chance to meet a lot of neighborhood kids and dogs.

Peyton enjoys taking her toys and bee-lining it down to the corner neighbors yard where they have lots of little trikes to try out.  After Kinnie says hi to Lucy the Siberian Husky we head back home.  Only first we must stop by Sherwood's home to check out the amazing ant hill. Back at home, she enjoys giving rocks to mom and dad.  She also just started to enjoy giving fresh petals to mom.  If only I had trained her to pull the dead flowers instead!

Life's a beach

Mr. Sandman
Peyton's Grandma and Grandpa came up this weekend for a quick trip to see our new home.  Peyton enjoyed showing them her gymnastics class and visiting some local waterfalls.  On Sunday after they left we spent a fun afternoon at the beach with Aunt Katelyn where Peyton learned to scoop sand got some more quality swimming in.

Peyton's funnies:
  1. Giraffe attack, something is apparently hilarious about pushing over her large and in charge stuffed giraffe. Let's just say lately he's been eating more grass than leaves.
  2. No means yes.  Peyton would you like dinner?  Shakes head no.  Would you like to play outside?  Shakes head no.  I asked her teachers about this, "we're working on yes and no right now", they state.  Hmmm...
  3. "Go get daddy."  If we lay face down on the floor real quiet she'll come pounce on your back.  If you act startled enough, she bursts into hysterical laughter.  What a clown.

Tinkle Tinkle Little Star

Potty time
Peyton's daycare let us know that the toddlers all try to go potty before lunchtime.  So I guess we are going to open that can of worms at home too.  Peyton enjoys sitting for about 6-8 seconds, sings a little jingle, than see ya mom... as she runs away with her pants around her ankles.

Mini-triathlon

I've fallen and I can't get up
Today we rode our bikes to Lake Calhoun- and after waiting in a very long line for some amazing sea eats- we ran around the playground and swam in the lake.  The swim vest caused her arms to remain perpindicular to her body... kinda difficult to getup.  A few firsts: using a big kid straw, and going down the biggest slide yet by herself.

Not exactly the correct order for a triathlon but Peyton was exhausted just the same, slept the whole 8 mi bike ride home!

Peyton's funnies:
  1. New favorite phrase: Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba high pitch Ba-Ba-Ba whil arching eye brows.
  2. Still eating crayons, and marker tips, recently at restaurant ate tip of purple crayon. Stuck her tongue out with a huge grin when we noticed the purple crayon tip on her tongue.
  3. Where's Peyton's belly?!?  Pull up her shirt, protrudes her belly, and points to her button.

Clean up on Aisle 5

Dessert
Peyton <3 food... Here's a snapshot of dinnertime:

What's on the plate:
Start with a fruit while dinner is cooking... mandarin oranges, grapes or blueberries.  Main course chicken or her favorite ham, mixed in with mixed veggies plus macaroni or potatoes.  If macaroni is served

Utensil of choice: prefers fork, which she used with force like an icepick, if she's feelin to fiesty and fork becomes dangerous, spoon.  Spoon to mouth success rate about 20%.  Spoon typically used to move food from bowl to tray and back to bowl.

Clues she's done: Tossing food on floor, dumping entire bowl on tray (incident 65%), and asking are you all done? If she puts arms up an waves hands like a beauty queen, Kinnie is alerted that he may score some leftovers and he comes running.

Dessert: not usually but if yes, forget the spoon!  Direct highchair to bathtub transfer = 100%

Alerting Kinnie "All Done"

Planet of the Apes

Fun with dad
Back to the zoo, this time with Aunt Katelyn.  And another opportunity to wear the leash because that many adult cannot handle a toddler.  Really it's more about getting to wear an awesome lion backpack!

The most amazing event was another encounter with Samson the ape.  Jon was with Peyton at the indoor portion of the ape habitat, were you can look through the windows to see the animals.  There were a ton of people at the exhibit on this bustling Saturday, so much so that I was stuck in the back with the stroller.  But out of the nowhere the ape started approaching the glass... closer... closer... closer.  Just then he reached his hand up and placed it of the glass, directly over Peyton's hand and looked her straight in the eye.  Like he found his long lost soul sista.  She was so startled that she started to cry.  Don't blame her, it's not like she understands glass yet!
