Our little angel

Little angel

Peyton got baptized with her cousin Patrick at Jon's family church, United Methodist in West Des Moines on July 29th.  My mom surprised us by having her baptismal gown made from my wedding dress which was destroyed in an unfortunate dry cleaning accident.

Peyton and Patrick screamed through their respective baptisms.  Maybe that had something to do with me plucking the binkie out of her mouth right before passing her off to Pastor Daniel.  My bad!

Reunion part two

Peyton makes a friend

Second road trip and second reunion.  This time we hung out with the Ernst family in Carroll, Iowa.  I met a lot of wonderful relatives and ate really good pulled pork sandwiches!  And I'm a pulled pork fanatic.  Peyton had fun being passed around too!

I love ice cream

Princess

Our neighbors gave us this Ice Cream Princess outfit and we made up a song about it.

To the tune of Frarajaka:
I love ice cream
I love ice cream
Yes I do
Yes I do
Bubblegum, Strawberry, Cotton Caaaaannndy
Bubblegum, Strawberry, Cotton Caaaaannndy
How bout you?
How bout you?

That's Jon's version, mine goes:
Strawberry, Vanilla, Miiiiinnnnnt
Strawberry, Vanilla, Miiiiinnnnnt
becuause clearly the middle color is cream instead of light pink.

Grammys here we come!

Stare down

What are you looking at?

This past week Peyton started to notice her toys.  She really enjoys having staring contests with Olivia the Owl.  Bummer how the owl always wins. : (

She also starting using her feet by grabbing and kicking her hanging toys and Daddy's face.  What a funny lady!

I'm sitting up all by myself!

I gotcha

Sun goddess

Sunbathing
This weekend we went to the pool with Peyton!  We know we can't put her in the water yet or expose her to the sun, so why did we go?  Because she was on the verge of outgrowing her swimsuit and we needed an occasion to wear it!  Daddy did some cool tricks on the diving board and mommy and Peyton hung out in the shade.  So worth it!

Chit Chat

Peyton went to the doctor today and she was telling Daddy all about it.  She was a tough little girl, only crying a little when she got her two month shots.  She weighed 11 lbs 4 oz (68%) and was 23.25 inches long (84%).  Thanks for sharing Peyton!

Heads up

Room for improvement

Jon has been working hard on Peyton's head control with her daily tummy time routine.  Just a few weeks ago she was in pretty bad shape but now she's a tummy time all-star! Go Peyton!

Smiley Lady

So happy!

Over the past few weeks Peyton has started to smile on command.  Jon thinks I sound totally nuts but she will smile if I say "Let's see some smiles!" in a really enthusiastic voice.  However her smile usually is preceded by a mommy's crazy look.

This picture reminds me, the answer to the earlier question was C) armpit... because I'm sure everyone really wanted to know that. : )

Road trip

Uncle Rob hearts Kinnick

Last week we made our first family road trip!  We loaded up what seemed like our entire house in our SUV.  Luckily Jon had installed a topper so Kinnick would have the entire back to sprawl out.

We made it up through Iowa City, Waverly, and finally to McGregor to attend the Henkes family reunion.  Uncle Rob was kind enough to host us in his apartment which was pretty awesome partly because he had a nice variety of delicious chips.  Peyton got the chance to meet her Great Grandparents and Kinnick got a chance to swim in the Mississippi River!  It was nice to have the chance to catch up.

Peyton looks like a big girl next to cousin Lanie
