Hooked on books

Shhhh... I'm busy reading
Peyton takes her reading seriously.  She crawls over to her bookshelf, pushes 80% of her books off, and scrummages through her options until she finds her faves, then she whips through the pages over and over again like no ones business.  Her top three of the moment:
  1. "Bubbles Bubbles" Sesame Beginning book found in the Target $1.00 bin
  2. "That's not my Snowman", a touch and feel book.  She occasionally enjoys starring the snowmen down.
  3. "If I were a Bunny", another touch and feel book.  She occasionally enjoys LICKing the bunny fur on page 3.

Snow day

Sillies
Snow storm, wahoooo!!!  Peyton enjoyed crunching around with Daddy and Kinnie while I made a sorry attempt of a snow angel in our icy yard.  After Peyton thought making funny faces with Daddy was a hoot.

Wild child

I see you Mr Penguin
Yesterday Peyton made her second trip to the zoo.  This time with her pals.  It was neat to see her track the animals like these cute little tuxedo birds and a close-up cheetah.  It was a cool (chilly and fun) day!

Embarrassingly cute

Jon sent me this video of Peyton while I was at work one day...

Cute = the tail end of Peyton's 30-second laugh attack

Embarassing = further evidence that Jon once again couldn't resist dressing Peyton up like a freakshow astronaut while mommy was away

Sweetheart

Cutie patootie
We love our funny little valentine!  Peyton once again enjoyed tearing the wrapping paper much more than receiving a gift.  Probably because all she got was a lame helmet.  Safety first Peyton, safety first!

But come spring Peyton will be living it up in Daddy's brand spankin' new bike trailer.  Jon will be trading in his extreme mountain biking adventures for leisurely Sunday rides in the park.  It's a new kind of fun.

Evolution of Crawl: Part 2

Peyton has graduated from a rock n' roll to "an 'infant'ry crawl" according to Papa.  Such a big girl!  Her favorite thing to do is to a-line it to Kinnick's water bowl where she pushes it back and forth until she is soaked.  I have a feeling that our lives have just changed. : )

Kinnick's Baby

Where's the Baby?
When I was pregnant, we prepped Kinnick for baby by having him take care of this baby powder scented crying doll.  And he looooved this baby!  I'd say, "Kinnie, where's the baby?!?"  His ears would perk and he booked it upstairs and stared at the baby in the crib.

This doll is still his baby.  Now I say, "where's the baby?" and Kinnie books it upstairs, bypasses Peyton sitting in the crib, and stares at the bucket of toys encasing baby.  Kinnick likes to lick baby's face... that wouldn't be a big deal except Peyton also likes to lick baby.  Cringe.

Football fever

Daddy, I'm a girl!
Peyton was a trouper during our Superbowl get together!  She's had fevers on and off the last few days and definitely wasn't her normally cheerful demeanor.  The real meltdown occurred when Daddy looked in her ears during a commercial.  It was pretty traumatic for Mommy too!

I asked, "do you think she could have the flu?" but the three pediatricians present didn't seem impressed.  Must have been their nacho comas because... the next day I had Jon bring home a flu test and it was positive!  Influenza A, guess thats what happens when the clinic runs out of vaccine before she get her second shot.
