The Second Noel

"Whooooooa," Peyton gasped when opening up presents. She was quite impressed with her new toys.

All of Peyton's gifts from Nana and Papa had a miniature stocking stuffed with blueberry yogurt fruit snacks tied onto the bow. We hung the stockings on the lower half of the tree, and these pouches made up about 80% of her nutrition for the rest the the holiday. Oh my. : )

Jon received some heavy duty winter gear: super warm long underwear, face mask, and snowshoes. He tried them all out when he went outside to take out the garbage. He looked like scuba steve visiting the North Pole. Very comical and highly inappropriate.

Dada and mama gave Peyton a playhouse in the nook of the upper level. While she was playing with Ati, she crawled into the doll crib and requested the blanket be place on her so she could take a fake nap. I'm so glad she's having fun!

Up on the housetop

Merry
Peyton had a wonderful holiday. I worked on Christmas Eve, so Nana, Papa, TinTi, Elmo, Ati, and Karen came up to stay on blowup mattresses and couches.  Peyton lead everyone around by their finger to play with bee-bees while Jon and I put our feet up!

Our basement turned into a disco hall. "Ati, Nana dance!" Peyton galloped in a circle while flailing her arms to the musical "bum-ble-bee." She got carried away on a few occasions and wiped out.

She had her first big sledding experience with the adult kids, Rebecca, Dave, and 4 dogs. And she witnessed her first drive-by live nativity scene with a bucking camel... watch out for Jesus!!!

The night ended with visit from Santa which ended up being a scene out of a scary movie. Apparently Peyton still has nightmares about the Macy's Santa.

Fat frosty (snow too cold to stick)

Watch out Michelangelo

Take that
Peyton brings home all sorts of paintings from daycare, so it was time to bring out the fingerpaints again. Whew Peyton knows what to do with a paintbrush! She smacked that paintbrush around with force, whoo hoo! She continually requested additional paint to ensure there was a hefty glob of red and green on hand, "pease mama pease".

I enjoyed how she kept her eyes shut the majority of the time to avoid paint in the eye. Great survival instincts sweet girl!

Ho Ho No!

Awkward
Baby it's cold outside!! We went downtown with Aunt Katelyn to watch the very last Holidazzle parade. We were rookies out there without sleeping bags or warm beverages so we didn't last long. Instead we went where everyone else went, Macy's Christmasland! Peyton experienced a pretty neat Christmas display, kind of like "It's a Small World", and met the big guy himself.

She did okay for a about 15 seconds, then stranger danger kicked in. Shame on Mommy for not prepping her better. Peyton was able to calm down quickly once given a Santaland rice krispies treat.

Oooooh, Elves

Snow angel

Hi Mama
Peyton really enjoys snow. She has started to take ownership in getting her coat (and "mama coat!"), hat, and gloves on. She also proclaims "TeeTee walk" and will hold up his leash getting big boy all excited. Jon, of course, thrilled to take them out for a stroll in our lovely subzero terrain.

Peyton's cutesies:
  1. Usually when I rock her before bed, we sing songs like "Jesus Loves Me" and "This Little Light of Mine". Peyton has really caught on to the general melody of these songs. "This shel lii maa, i gaaa laa shiiiiii". She occasionally amps it up and sings twice as loud as me until trails off. Probably my favorite time with her.
  2. She like grabbing shopping bags (pretending they are her purse) and go "Bye bye mama... dada bye." as she walks away slowly waving the whole time. Jon and I agreed that it's like forshadowing when she'll eventually leave home someday. It kinda makes me sad and she does this all the dang time.

Baby's first timeout

Oooooh... glass
This week Peyton and Mama put up the first round of indoor decorations. I take our Christmas ornaments pretty seriously. So I was hopeful Peyton would be interested and respectful when helping me place the basic glass ornaments on the tree.

I was a sucker. She went crazy for the boxes of ornaments which I ended up putting out of reach. Then after helping hang a few, she decided if would be hysterical to pluck an ornament off of the tree and proceed the run around in circles like a drunken sailor "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"before chucking the ball across the room. Repeat x 5 and she was busted. "Peyton be nice to the ornaments." "Don't you dare!"

I scooped her up and placed her on her chair in her room. "You are going to sit here for 10 seconds Peyton" as I tried to nudge her back in her chair for her full punishment. I think she lasted about 7 seconds before squirming her way out.

When Jon got home from work he mocked me for pulling the time out card. Citing his pediatrician mumbo jumbo stance that she was much too young. Hmmm... guess who put her in time out about 20 minutes later?

Answer: wasn't me.

Maraca fever

Peyton loves "dancing" in circles. The pause in the middle is one of her amazing jumps.
