Cat n' mouse

Joke: What does a mouse eat?
Boo!  Peyton was a very scary mouse this year. She had a fever earlier in the day (boo again) but was a champ and said Happy Halloween to four neighbors. Daddy worked with her on the "joke" earlier this week but we learned that kids don't say jokes in Minneapolis!

Meanwhile Kinnie was annoyed about being a cat.

Peyton's funnies:
  1. For some time Daddy has enjoyed swinging Peyton like a pendulum back and forth reeeeally high. Peyton laughs with delight! Mommy shakes her head!
  2. Started blowing kisses this week
  3. Can recognize about one-third of the words in the 100 word book: boots, bicycle, zebra, giraffe, spoon, pizza, ... I maybe bias but I think she's a smart cookie. The coolest thing is she'll point to the dog in the book, point to Kinnie "da", point to horse in book, point to her Rody pony.
Answer: Cheese (with a big smile)

All girl

"Boos"
Peyton enjoys a good bra. She finds bras on the bathroom floor and regularly puts them around her neck. "Boos." I blame daycare : ).  We had a couple of friends over to watch football. Midway through the game I noticed that there was a bra right smack in the middle of the floor. Kinda embarassing. Note to self: do a bra sweep beforehand.

Unfortunately, Peyton has been home with a fever this week... I blame daycare again.  One day I got home and was a little taken aback. What the world!! Jon stayed home with her that day and took it upon himself to get her a pedicure. "Peyton asked for it".  Sure, like Peyton knows what toenail polish is.

Don't quit your day job

Saucepants

Oh my...
Peyton is being a little "saucepants" this past week. I hope this is a phase. Kinda fussy, demanding, word of the day "nope...nope". Hmmm... I blame daycare : )

This week she started really tending to her babies.  He takes the baby, puts her in the booster chair, mommy buckles the baby... or else *saucepants*, bib on.  Cherrios and goldfish are the babies faaaavorite food but she also enjoys pressing her drip proof sippy milk cup just right so milk gets all over the baby head and cloth body. When the baby has had enough she signs "all done" before getting baby out.

Fish face

You looking at me?
Mommy got Veterans Day off from work (not Christmas Eve, Veterans Day) anyways, you know what that means... Sea Life Aquarium Day!!

Peyton was quite taken by the sting rays right off the bat "fisssshhhhh", gasped in delight at the tanks of tropical fish with "Nemos" as the older kiddos pointed out, but clung on to my leg in the dark room with the glowing jelly fish.  There were also some amazingly weird lookin sharks in a glass tunnel right at the end.  They swam right by us so Peyton could get a good look, thanks guys!  Whew, mommy's exhausted and its only 10 o'clock : )

Best exhibit!

Going the extra mile

Yeah for walk!
Kinnick has always been a huge fan of walks.  If you say "Wanna go for a ..... walk?" to Kinnie, his ear perk up and he tilts his head to the side by the time you say "wanna".  Peyton is kinda the same way, minus the head tilt.  She has started taking us by the finger and dragging us over to her stroller, such tenacity! And Kinnie appreciates it.

Our usual walk takes us down the street to Louisiana Oaks Park where we travel past the soccer fields, up an extremely steep hill, past the football practice field and splash pad to her favorite playground where we hop out to dare the big slides. Then we take a short cut through an unpaved trail back home.

Peyton offers her babies a similar experience by taking them for walks around the block. Only once, did one of her babies drop out of the stroller, caught underneath, and skidded over concrete for a good 10 yards. "Ut Oh!"

Fort Strutt

Watch out!
This week forts were all the rage!  Peyton was home sick today with a fever so, while daddy was at work, we built forts.  When she had enough fort tea parties with her babies, Peyton decided to run out of the fort with gusto and dive on the fort to collapse the blankets.  She continued this until the kitchen chair collapsed with the blankets.  Not so fun anymore : (

Refreshed after her nap (this time with beefed up support chairs), Peytie resumed running blindly out of her fort.  Dad couldn't wait to join in when he got home!
